Endpoint Security VPN R75 Blue Screen (BSOD)

After installation of Endpoint Security VPN R75 for Windows (SecureClient Next Generation) I get sporadic and out of the sky a blue screen on Windows 7 64bit.

After a long analysis ;-( I find out that the reason is vsdatant.sys a ZoneAlarm Firewalling Driver which came on my system by the Checkpoint Endpoint Security VPN R75 for Windows. Grrrr!

Please fix this issue soon!!!

Looking at your post I assume that you have a dump from the BSOD.
Can you please attach it?

I get exactly the same problem and we use 32 bit computers. We had installed checkpoint last Spetember and have had no problems until the last couple of week. Now one PC has occasional blue screen and one PC is currently dead as I cant stop the blue screen, it is 100% failure

What is the solution checkpoint?

We recently updated to version R75.1 and we still get the problem with system crashes because of the vsdatant.sys file. The problem is worse shortly after a McAfee update, which seems to upset checkpoint, we uninstall/reinstall Checkpoint which seems to reduce the problem, but is not a 100% fix. From other searches on the internet it appears to be an incompatibility in the firewall. Cisco VPN appear to disable the vsdatant file as a fix, but i can find nothing to suggest a fix for checkpoint.
This is not an isolated problem, we have 3 PC's running McAfee and checkpoint and all 3 crash to a greater or lesser extent, and more so after a McAfee software update.
Whats the answer Checpoint???

We value and appreciate your feedback and we are sorry for your bad experience.

We are familiar with some rare scenarios in which a BSOD occurred and vsdatant was marked as the one that caused the crash. Usually we found it to be incompatibility issue with other software installed on the endpoint machine.

Is there a way you can provide us a memory dump for analysis?

Thanks,
Nilly

Hello Peter-

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I have a couple thousand machines and I'm delaying the rolling out of Windows 7x64 because of it. A large group of the hundred or so I've deployed so far seem to be experiencing this.

I'm curious...do the machines you're having trouble this issue on have the 'nVidia Optimus' feature?

Hi,

No one provided us dump for analysis.

We can't investigate this issue unless we get a dump.

Thanks,
Nilly

Hi :

We have the same problem and but this issue is resolved once we moved to E80.20. Since we moved we didnt get a single BSOD.

Thanks

We have also been getting BSODs (stop code 07f) for several months on a large number of Dell Latitude laptops. The frequency of crash varies widely from one every 7-12 days, up to 4-5 in a single day, even on the same laptop.
We paid Microsoft to analyse the dump files, and they point to a "double fault" error due to conflict between VSDATANT.SYS (the ZoneAlarm Firewall component of CheckPoint) and E1C62X64.SYS (Intel Gigabit Network driver).
I have begun uninstalling the CheckPoint client on a few select machines to see if this resolves the BSODs but it could take some time to know if this is effective.
Is this a known issue in v.R75? Is it fixed in R80.20 or higher?

I can provide minidumps and memory.dmp files, since that is what you say is needed to investigate this problem, but the SFTP site credentials posted earlier are not valid. I tried attaching the dump files to this message, but that keeps failing. If you can provide me with correct details on using WINSCP to get the dump to you, I will be happy to do so.

Thank you!
