Need assistance. We have been deploying PointSec for PC to all of our laptops and we encountered a unique error. When rebooting a laptop, we get the HP splash screen, then see PointSec for PC trying to load. Once that disappears, we get a blue screen that states:

***STOP in PSMain ***
Error Code: 0x5000c7e
Stack backtrace:
PsMain: 52f70
PsMain: 4ccd0
PsMain: 42695
PsMain: bb9
PsMain: 78
PsMain: ba

We cannot get past this error. Cannot get into safe mode nor a command prompt. We can only get into the BIOS. We ran HDD checks in the BIOS, and the HDD test passed. Before installing PointSec for PC, we ran a CHKDSK to verify HDD had no bad sectors. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly apprecitated.

The Revision Tracking Document highlights this error. It appears that a fix was added in 6.1.3 HF 4.

From the document, the error occurs when the system is shut down during the second half of the installation process. Is it possible to ensure the users / installation scripts wait 30 minutes [or pick some appropriately lengthy period] prior to a reboot?

Tim,

The first thing I would ask that you try is our database recovery tool. You can download that from https://download.pointsec.com/downloads you will need a username and password which you will need to call into us for that information. In there will be a tool called 0x50012b8. Download this and run the executible from a Windows desktop. It will create a disk and hopefully fix the issue. If this does not fix the issue then you will need to download a tool from us called Scanpart. Ask the technician that you talk to where to download this and they will help you with that also. You will need to run it with the parameters of scanpart disk fix. Once that is done let us know and we would need to look at other things if that comes back without any issues.

Thank you,

your db on the drive is corrupted. I have this and solved it by using the FDE - Dynamic Mount Utility.zip to retrieve the data off the hdd and then formatted the drive and restaged it for the user
